The first racing weekend of the year at Circuit Ricardo Tormo was shaped by the weather. Strong winds took center stage and forced the cancellation of Saturday’s schedule, moving all activity to Sunday, when the qualifying sessions and races for the four Winter Series categories\u2014Formula 4, GT, GT4, and Prototypes\u2014took place. <\/p>\n
In Formula 4, Belgian driver Dries Van Langendonck, championship leader and weekend favorite, took victory in the first race after dominating from pole to flag. Van Langendonck, a McLaren academy driver, also fought for the win in the second race but could only manage third behind Poland’s Aleksander Ruta and Britain’s Thomas Bearman, brother of Formula 1 driver Oliver Bearman. In the final race, German driver Arjen Kr\u00e4ling secured the win ahead of Ruta and Bearman, with Van Langendonck finishing in ninth position. <\/p>\n
In the GT category sprint races, Israeli driver Ariel Levi (Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2) won the first race and Marcus Clutton (McLaren 720s GT 3 Evo) took victory in the second, while the duo of Kiano Blum and Niklas Kalus (Ford Mustang GT3) won the endurance race.<\/p>\n
The SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm team (Mercedes-AMG GT4) was the big winner of the weekend in GT4: Enrico F\u00f6rderer won the first race, Joel Mesch took the second, and both secured victory in the endurance race. Meanwhile, Morten Stromsted was the clear dominant force in prototypes, taking all three victories. <\/p>\n
