Circuit Ricardo Tormo hosted the fourth round of the MIR Racing Aspar Cup, where close to 70 riders took part in one of the most eagerly awaited weekends of the entire season. Darío Ruiz in Promo3 and Alejandro Castilla and Ethan Botti in Moto5 were the winners, in a race where the competition was incredibly close right up to the chequered flag.

Promo3

The standout name in the top category of the MIR Racing Aspar Cup was Darío Ruiz, who had already shown his pace in qualifying by taking his first pole in Promo3, and who ultimately tasted victory on the Cheste track. In the first race, he won by just 8 thousandths over Izan Muyor and 471 over Marc Moñinos, with it being the first podium of the season for the three riders who stepped onto the rostrum. On Sunday, the excitement and uncertainty were even greater, with the top 15 separated by just 3 seconds. Even so, the winner would once again be Madrid rider Darío Ruiz, with Izan Muyor and Lorenzo Poma second and third respectively. With these results, the double winner of the weekend snatches the category lead from Leonardo Fabio.

Moto5

The Moto5 race weekend began with Cesare Golfetto taking his first pole in the category. The reigning GP10 champion fought to the end to take victory in Saturday’s race, but an unfortunate crash, in which Witek Kupczynski was also involved, left him with no chance of winning. In a “photo finish”, Alejandro Castilla took the win, with a 7-thousandth advantage over Pablo Arnedo and 11 over Ethan Botti. In the final race, Botti pulled away almost from the start and stepped onto the top step of the podium at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, while behind him the battle was frantic, with Golfetto second and Arnedo third. At the end of the race, the Alicante rider received a penalty for exceeding track limits on the last lap, so Dmitrii Kopanev ultimately completed the top 3.

The engines of the MIR Racing Aspar Cup will roar again at the MIR Racing Villena Circuit (Alicante) on the weekend of July 4 and 5, where riders from GP12, GP10, Alevín 90 and Mininimoto 4.2 will be in action, before the well-earned summer break in all categories.
