Circuit Ricardo Tormo hosted this weekend the third round of the Promocopa, the national motorsport series that brings together the Saxo Trophy, the GTI Trophy and the RACE Touring Car Championship. After holding the collective tests on Saturday, on Sunday the timed practice sessions for the three categories took place, which determined the starting grids for the six races.

The Saxo Trophy, the one-make championship for the iconic Citröen Saxo, has one of the biggest grids in Spanish motorsport, with more than 30 cars on the grid. Daniel Martínez García won the first heat from pole, while the other victory went to Alexander Villanueva.

As for the GTI Trophy, the competition raced with the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Agustín Arce Pi took victory in the first race after Fernando Navarrete led every lap. In the second race, Navarrete made amends and took the win.

In the RACE Touring Car Championship, Gian Maria Traversone was the clear dominator. At the wheel of his Porsche 992 Cup, he won both races.

The next Promocopa round will be on September 5 and 6 at the Andalusian Monteblanco circuit, before the season finale on October 23 and 24 at Jarama.

After the summer, the Circuit will bring motorsport fans together again with the FIM MotoJunior World Championship. The MotoGP World Championship feeder series visits the Circuit on September 5 and 6. Tickets are already on sale HERE
