Nelson Piquet Jr. will compete in the NASCAR Euro Series V8GP 2026, the revamped premier category of the European version of NASCAR. The Brazilian, former Formula 1 driver, Formula E World Champion and winner in NASCAR’s national divisions in the United States, will join the powerful Alumitec Racing team, which will pursue the title with more ambition than ever.
Alumitec Racing’s Team Principal and CEO, Alain Lord Mounir, emphasized that the goal is clear: to win. “Last year we finished second in the championship. This year we are putting every effort and every resource into winning the title. Nelson’s experience in Formula E, NASCAR and international championships fits perfectly with our project. Together with Gianmarco Ercoli we form a duo capable of fighting for the championship from the first race.”
The signing of Piquet Jr. represents a statement of intent from Alumitec Racing, which wants to dominate the new V8GP era. The combination of the Brazilian’s talent and Ercoli’s consistency places the French team among the top favorites even before the lights go out for the 2026 season.
