The Circuit Ricardo Tormo will bring together nearly a thousand classic cars, motorbikes, and trucks this weekend for the 12th edition of Racing Legends, the vintage vehicle meet that kicks off the season every year.
Despite the confirmed absence of one of the event’s stars, Australian rider Troy Bayliss, whose flight to the event was cancelled, Racing Legends will continue its activities by remembering the 2006 Grand Prix in which American Nicky Hayden was crowned MotoGP World Champion ahead of the big favourite Valentino Rossi.
In addition, the track will be full of action with motorcycle racing from the Spanish Classics Cup and the Valencian Community Regularity Trophy for cars. Furthermore, Grand Prix bikes will star in two exhibitions per day, vintage formula cars will remind us of races from the past, and parades of participating trucks and touring cars will take to the track.
Costumes, talks, and meets
The paddock, open to all fans, will also have a retro atmosphere. The Racing Legends organisers invite fans to dress up and help set the scene for the event. The best costumes will win cash prizes and MotoGP tickets after a parade on the event’s main stage.
On Saturday, fans will have the chance to sign up for the contest at the paddock Info Point from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Later, at 12:00 PM, a jury will judge the costumes on the main stage and determine the prizes, which include cash amounts to spend at the Circuit Shop and tickets for the Valencian Community Grand Prix.
On Sunday, a 500-euro prize will be awarded to the club with the best atmosphere around their vehicles, along with three other prizes of €250, €150, and €100 for the three best participating vehicles with the best decoration.
Talks and meets
Riders Jorge Martínez Aspar, Rubén Xaus, Juan Bautista Borja, and journalist Miguel Ángel Roselló will take part in the talk remembering the 2006 Grand Prix on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
On Sunday, the spotlight will be on Valencian rider Jaume Masià, who will unveil his sculpture at the Circuit entrance roundabout at 12:30 PM and later, at 1:00 PM, will take part in a talk alongside Manuel Champi Herreros, Héctor Faubel, Julián Miralles, and Dani Holgado.
Additionally, more than 200 Mercedes SLKs will gather for the Club SLK Valencia meet to commemorate the 30th anniversary of this spectacular roadster from the German firm.
Live music, vehicle exhibitions, children’s activities, road safety, and a large display of vintage trucks complete the Racing Legends line-up.
Tickets are on sale on the official Circuit Ricardo Tormo website HERE and at the Circuit ticket offices in the P1 car park on both Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM.
