Next Saturday, May 16, the Ricardo Tormo Circuit will host the Velas Maraton 3.0 Grand Prix, a running event that will bring together nearly 1,500 registered runners for the two scheduled distances—4K and 10K—which will take place simultaneously within the grounds of the Valencia racetrack.
The event, organized by the Velas Maraton Sports Club, will take place starting at 8:30 p.m. and will allow participants to run on the asphalt of the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in a familiar motorsports setting, with the start and finish lines located at the same point on the course. The event is part of the Circuit’s commitment to hosting sporting activities open to the public and to diversifying its calendar beyond motorsports competitions.
The course will take place entirely within the Ricardo Tormo Circuit. The 4K race will consist of one full lap of the Grand Prix circuit, with a total distance of 4,005 meters. The 10K race will include one lap of the Grand Prix circuit and two additional laps of the outer track, until the established course is completed. Both races will start at the same time and will have a finish time limit set for 10:00 p.m.
The organization has made all the necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth running of the race. Timing will be done using chip-equipped race bibs, which must be worn visibly throughout the race. There will be two aid stations, one located at kilometer 4.2 and another at the finish line, where runners will also receive food and their runner’s bag.
The 10K race will also feature pacers running at different paces to help participants keep up.
On the sporting side, trophies will be awarded to the top three overall finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories for both distances. The 10K race will also feature cash prizes for the top three finishers in each category. The Ricardo Tormo Circuit will provide medical services and a coat check area next to the start and finish lines for the event.
Once the race is over, the runners and their guests are invited to a party featuring a DJ performing in the Circuit’s Pit Lane and food trucks to help them recover after the race.
Spectators will be able to access the pit grandstand to watch the race; entry will be permitted up to 25 minutes before the start of the race. For safety reasons, once the race has begun, no spectators will be allowed on the track.
